Rancho Santa Margarita, Orange County
O'Neill Regional Park follows Trabuco Creek along the edge of Rancho Santa Margarita, a canyon of oaks and sycamores that the O'Neill family first gave to the county in 1948. The name Trabuco, Spanish for a blunderbuss, goes back to a firearm lost by a soldier of the Portola expedition in 1769. Trails climb from the park to a hilltop vista point above the city.
